Following the explosive events of Season 2, special agent Peter Sutherland receives a new assignment: locate a young Treasury agent who has fled to Istanbul after killing his own boss and absconding with sensitive government intelligence. What begins as a straightforward manhunt quickly unravels into something far more dangerous.
Peter uncovers a sprawling dark money network with tentacles reaching into Washington’s highest levels. Assassins are on his trail, foreign intelligence services are watching his every move, and the mission keeps expanding to new territory: Istanbul, Mexico City, Washington, New York, and the Dominican Republic.
Gabriel Basso Leads a Revamped Cast
Gabriel Basso anchors the season as Peter, a role he has made his own since Season 1. Returning alongside him are Louis Herthum as intelligence broker Jacob Monroe and Amanda Warren as handler Catherine Weaver. Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ward Horton, and Albert Jones have all been elevated to series regulars for Season 3.
Season 3 also introduces key new characters. Genesis Rodriguez plays Isabel, a driven journalist whose investigation collides with Peter’s mission in unexpected ways. David Lyons and Stephen Moyer round out the new additions in roles that remain under wraps.
Notably, Luciane Buchanan, who played Rose in Seasons 1 and 2, does not appear in Season 3. Showrunner Shawn Ryan confirmed the story shifted focus to Peter’s solo arc and no suitable role was found for her character this cycle.
Shawn Ryan Expands the Scope
Showrunner Shawn Ryan, known for The Shield and Timeless, has described Season 3 as an “adrenaline-fueled thrill ride” across multiple continents. The series continues to be inspired by the novel by Matthew Quirk, though the show has long since expanded beyond the source material.
Ryan has also confirmed that Season 3 will force Peter to reckon with the personal cost of his career. “Peter will confront the impact of what being a night agent has personally cost him and how it has changed him, for better and for worse,” Ryan said ahead of the premiere.
Filmed Across Four Continents
Production for Season 3 began in Istanbul in late 2024 before moving to New York, Washington D.C., Mexico, and the Dominican Republic in early 2025. The gap between Season 2 (January 2025) and Season 3 is roughly 13 months, a significantly faster turnaround than the nearly two-year wait between Seasons 1 and 2.
